In an effort to bring more honesty and clarity to the medical aesthetics industry, Modern Beauty Con has created a transparent review methodology for evaluating devices, products, software, equipment, and services.
Our goal is simple:
Give providers real-world insight based on what the industry is actually saying — not what sales reps are paid to say.
Our reviews are never sponsored, and companies cannot pay to change their rating.
Ever.
Here’s exactly how we calculate our scores.
Step 1: We Collect Sentiment
We search until we find at least 25 publicly & privately available comments or reviews from providers & patients on:
- Facebook groups
- Reddit threads
- Google reviews (when applicable)
- Social media conversations
- Industry Q&A threads
We do not copy or quote private posts.
Instead, we privately tally the overall sentiment.
For each device or product, we categorize mentions into:
✔️ Positive Mentions
Providers expressing satisfaction, praise, good outcomes, ease of use, etc.
➖ Mixed Mentions
Providers with neutral, nuanced, or “it depends” experiences.
❌ Negative Mentions
Providers reporting issues, frustrations, poor ROI, complications, or regrets.
Step 2: We Tally the Results
Here’s an example of how a device might score:
- 18 positive mentions
- 6 mixed mentions
- 4 negative mentions
Total mentions: 28
Positive ratio: 18 / 28 = 64% positive
Step 3: We Convert the Ratio Into a Star Rating
We use a simple, consistent scale:
- 70%+ positive → 4 to 5 stars
- 50–69% positive → 3 to 4 stars
- 30–49% positive → 2 to 3 stars
- Below 30% positive → 1 to 2 stars
This allows us to rate devices and companies objectively using the sentiments of real providers, not marketing promises.
Step 4: We Combine Everything Into an Easy-to-Read Review
We take the sentiment we collected and summarize it into:
- Provider Praise (what people love)
- Provider Complaints (what people dislike or warn about)
- Cost Breakdown (startup cost + ongoing expenses)
- Final Verdict (who the product is right for and who it’s not)
We keep it simple, direct, and free from sponsorship bias.
Your Experience Matters Too
If you have experience—good, bad, or neutral—with the device or product we reviewed, we invite you to leave a comment on the article.
Your insight helps:
- Other providers make smarter buying decisions
- New injectors and medspa owners avoid costly mistakes
- The entire industry understand what works (and what doesn’t)
Every review gets better as the community contributes.
Why This Approach Matters
Medical aesthetics is filled with:
- Paid reviews
- Sponsored education
- Sales rep pressure
- Biased content
Providers deserve transparent, unbiased, community-driven insight before investing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment.
That is why Modern Beauty Con created this system, to give you the clearest, most honest view of what the industry actually thinks.
